Admission is free but donations are welcome. There may be a separate admission for special exhibits.

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences looks at the natural world through North Carolina’s diverse geography, geology, plants and animals. Walk through the Museum and explore the rich natural history of our state in Mountains to the Sea complete with a 20 foot waterfall. Explore the forests and the creatures that live there, amaze at the size of whale skeletons suspended in air, and be sure to visit with Acro the Acrocanthosaurus skeleton on display in the Terror of the South exhibit.

For little museum guests, be sure to visit the Discovery Room where they can explore the natural world up close – touch fossils, play with puppets, explore “treasure boxes” and find out just how tall T Rex was!

And be sure to stop by the Cafe’ if all this exploring makes you hungry.

This is a great place to visit with the Kids. Admission is $5 per person, or purchase an annual pass for $100.

The Museum has both permanent and visiting exhibits. For example, your child can visit Town. While there he can go grocery shopping and cook up a great meal for you!

Or take a part-time job as a postal worker, fireman, stage performer, costume designer or EMT….

For the truly adventureous, step aboard the Pirate Ship and set sail for the Seven Seas – AHOY there!

Past visiting exhibits have been a hockey rink, schoolhouse in Japan, and Olympic Sports events.

Complete with IMAX theater next door (separate admission required) this is a fun spot you’ll be sure to visit again and again. Opening soon at the IMAX – Dreamworks Monsters v. Aliens – in 3D – Yikes!
